Walk to School
On Monday, I decided to load the kids up in the stroller and walk S-girl to school. It's just over a mile from our house. Yes, S-girl walked the entire way, and we made it to school before the bell rang. It took us about 40 minutes to get there. I was really proud of S-girl for walking the whole way, and not complaining once. She did look tired, and hungry when we got there. It's a good thing there was breakfast waiting for her in her class. (Today is the last day she will get breakfast at school, the school doesn't qualify anymore, which is a good thing, but it was so nice to not have to worry about her eating before she left in the morning!)
On our walk, S-girl said to me "this is what I have been waiting for mom, a walk just like this". She was picking up "treasures" all along the way, which mostly consisted of weeds. This is a photo of her storing her treasures. It was cute to see how excited she was.
We have since started carpooling with a neighbor of ours, which is really nice. She takes the girls to school, and I pick them up. It was worth trying the walk for one day, but I won't be missing it at all!
