If there were ever a perfect weekend......
This one would be it. It was such a fun weekend, and I was so glad all of the kids were healthy for it. We went to the Davis County Fair. We have gone every year for the past 5 years, It's free to get into the fair and only $2.00 for parking. You can't beat that! It was so fun, and the kids really had a great time. This was the first day S-girl was really feeling better. She ended up having a fever for four days, missing all but one day of school last week. Luckily, everyone else has been fine.
Mike's mom and dad came and met us at the fair. My dad also came a little bit later. Here is a photo of the girls with Mike's parents.

Mike and I never seem to be in very many pictures that we take, so I made an effort to get this updated family photo.

They had a petting zoo that the girls loved.

Looking at the animals.

They also had free pony rides. This was M-boy's first experience with being on a pony, and he loved it.

This has always been one of I-girls most favorite things at the fair.

S-girl has always been a little scared of riding the ponies, and has not wanted to do it for two years now, but this year, she decided to give it a go again, and she loved it.

This is Mike with his dad and the girls on their shoulders.

After the fair, we came home and M-boy took a good, much needed nap. Mike and I and the girls watched the Olympics and the PBS cooking shows. Mike has always loved to watch PBS on Saturdays and the girls are following his example. They love to watch the cooking shows, and every once in a while, I-girl would come up to us and say "That looks good, I want to eat that". I took a nap on the couch too.

We asked my brother and his wife to watch the kids for us that night. Our kids adore Darin and Lyndsey and can't wait to get to their house. They always have such fun things planned, and this night was no exception. They took them on a picnic and fed the ducks. They had a great time. They took some great photos of the kids, I'll have to post those another time. Mike and I met up with this mom and dad again (they had driven up Ogden canyon for the afternoon) and went to dinner. They just happened to be exiting off of the freeway just as Mike and I were taking the kids to my brother's house. It worked out great. We went to eat at the Outback. If any of you have Blue Cross Insurance, and you go to this link and register, you can start earning reward points that when you accumulate 50,000 points, you earn a $25.00 gift certificate. (you can get one gift certificate a year) There are several different places to choose from, and Outback was one of them. We have not eaten at the Outback since the first year we were married. It was so yummy. It was fun to eat out with Mike's parent and not have to worry about the kids. After, we went and finished our case lot shopping at Macey's. It was great fun, and we both decided it was our perfect weekend!

We had our Enrichment Cooking Group a few months ago where one of the girls from Mexico City showed us how to make different sauces, salsas, etc. She brought her little tortilla smashers and we used them and then fried up what tasted like a Gordita shell. We served them up like a tostada. It was really simple. Just a corn flour and water. Here's the link of the stuff we used. I bought some at WalMart and have made them since... but don't have a cool smasher like yours.
