Apricots
This week, a friend of mine that I went to high school with called and said her apricot tree was ready to be picked. I have been going down and picking apricots the past few years, and I always enjoy visiting. It's also fun for the kids because she has three little girls, and they are just about a year older than my girls. They had so much fun together. It was such a great visit.
I-girl dressed up like sleeping beauty.
S-girl and my friends oldest daughter really got along well. They spent a lot of time coloring with "blendy pens" at the table. S-girl loves to color.

After we got home, I started on the apricots. I had a lot of helpers! I have started to enjoy my children's help more rather than wishing they were not in my way (which I have done a lot). But, I find now that I can always find a little job for them, even for my 16 month old. His favorite place to be in in the kitchen. He would pick up the apricots and throw them, splashing them in the water and thought it was so funny.

This is a picture of him getting ready to throw one.

Our final count: 28 pints of apricot nectar, 3 pints and 10 half-pints of jam. This is one of my favorite things about summer. I love canning, and I'm looking forward to doing a lot more of it over the next couple of months. We have beans in our garden, our grapes that will be ready in the fall, and I'm hoping to do peaches, pickles, and any other produce I can find at a really good price, so if you hear anything, let me know!
