California Trip Day 1
We are back from vacation, and what a vacation it was. We had so much fun!
For at least the next week or so, I'll be posting about each day that we were in California. Doing it this way helps me remember the trip in much better detail than I could otherwise.
Our first day was last Sunday, March 8th. We packed the car on Saturday night and left at 5:00 am on Sunday morning. The kids were wide awake for about the first hour and then gradually, they all went back to sleep. It made the first three hours of the trip go really quickly. We only had to stop once before we arrived in St. George. Then we spent the next four hours in St. George. Mike went to Dixie after he came home from his mission, so he has a lot of good memories in this area. We went and ate breakfast at McDonald's. Then we took the kids to the St. George Temple. It was a beautiful day, and nice to be on the temple grounds, especially since it was Sunday.
In the picture below, you can tell the last thing he wants to do is be in my arms. He just wanted to run everywhere!
Then we went to a park and let them play.
After, we went to Snow Canyon and let them play in the sand. When Mike lived in St. George, he would go here all the time . Someday, he wants to live in St. George when he is retired.
Then, it was off to Las Vegas. The kids slept most of the way there. Mike and I realized that it was 10 years ago that we went to Vegas for our honeymoon, on the exact same weekend. Wow, there is nothing like Las Vegas to chase the spirit right away. It even seemed worse than when we were there ten years ago! I'm not really sure if I ever want to go back. We made the best of it though.
That night we thought we might try a buffet, but after finding out that if you had to be 21 to eat at the the buffet across the street for only $7.99, we decided to eat at KFC off of the strip (I am so glad Mike bought me a GPS for Christmas, it made finding things so much easier). Then we drove to the Luxor, which was where we stayed on our honeymoon. Here we are after our long ride in the car.
