California Trip Day 3

Day three was our first day in Disneyland. Our hotel was too far away to walk, so we drove and parked in the Disneyland parking lot, and took the tram to the park. We were all so excited, I felt like a kid again, because this was my first time at Disneyland! It was a beautiful day, and perfect weather to go to Disneyland.

You can see Scotlyn and I in the picture below, but can you see Ivy? She was so excited about seeing the castle that she could not stop staring at it! She is behind me and you can see that I am holding her hand. The castle was fun to see in person. I thought it would be bigger than it actually was. I guess as a child, it would seem a lot bigger than it did to me as an adult.

From the minute we entered the park, I was so impressed with Disneyland. They really know how to entertain. All of the employees were so nice and helpful in answering our questions. I can see why it is called the "Magic Kingdom". They really know how to create the atmosphere that they claim in all of their advertising. We went to Fantasyland where all of the children rides are first. We rode the Merry-Go-Round..........

Then we rode Dumbo. This was the longest line for a ride that we stood in. It was about 10 minutes, but it drove Mason nuts. He cried a lot, I felt bad for the people around us. He did not like us hold him in the line, and just wanted to be put down. Even when we would go back to the hotel room, he would cry when we would get to the room, because he wanted to run down the hall of the hotel.

Then it was Mr. Toad's Wild ride, not our kids favorite.

The kids loved the Tea cups. They were a lot of fun. We had to get a pink one, as per Ivy's request.

Then we rode.......

The kids loved "It's a Small World". I was so glad it was open again. It was a lot of fun. The kids kept pointing at everything in the ride. The next few pictures are from that ride. We rode it twice.

We went to Toon Town for just a few minutes, long enough to meet Goofy.

We did not ride any rides in Toon Town, but we took this photo.

Then we met Aladdin and Jasmine.

And Mickey.

And we rode the Jungle Cruise, and bought the kids their autograph books.

We took the kids on Pirates of the Caribbean. From the minute it started, Scotlyn was asking when it would be over. It was my favorite ride. I was really impressed with the "robots" in the ride.

We rode the Winnie the Pooh ride three times during our two day visit. After we rode it the first time, Mike took Ivy on Splash Mountain, and she loved it. The next day, she begged us to take her on Splash Mountain again. I'm a wimp when it comes to those kind of rides, so Mike took her twice, and Scotlyn and I stayed back with Mason.

This is the one and only meal we ate in the park. We called it our "$50.00 hot dog meal". It's a good thing we only ate once in the park!

Here are the kids after the first day. It was a lot of walking, but a lot of fun. We went back to the hotel in the afternoon so Mason could get a nap, and I took the girls swimming in the pool. We had a great time. Then we went back to the park at night. We stayed at the park long enough to see part of the fireworks and watch Tinkerbell fly over the castle, that was very cool.

I have loved reading your travel log posts. It sounds like you guys had so much fun! It really is such a magical place. I love that Ivy is in the picture with you but watching the castle instead! That's kind of how I felt when I saw the Statue of Liberty for the first time. It was smaller then I'd always imagined. Looks like so much fun! I'm sure your kids will remember this vacation for the rest of their lives.

P.S. That is the most modest Jasmine I have ever seen. Awesome!

Sounds perfect! We didn't do all the fantasyland rides because the ones we did scared our kids. We did Winnie the Pooh lots too :) I can't believe Ivy was tall enough for Splash Mtn. Annie would have gone but wasn't tall enough.
