My Latest Project

I have gone "coupon crazy". Since the beginning of the year, I have really been focusing on saving money on groceries. About a month ago, I found this blog called "A Thrifty Mom.
This girl is amazing!

I have learned so much from her about saving money. She is always posting ways to get deals that I would not have known otherwise. Since reading her blog, I decided to get serious about using coupons. I have always had coupons, and would cut them out and match it up with what was on sale at the store, and just take those coupons to the store with me. This would save me money, but then there were times when I would find things on sale that I didn't know were on sale, or things on clearance that I knew I had a coupon for at home and I would miss out on even a better deal because the coupons were at home. So, I decided to follow the way "A Thrifty Mom" uses her coupons, and invest in this binder. It took me a lot of time to put in together, but it has been worth the time. I just started taking it with me this past weekend. I love it! I was a little hesitant to take it into the store at first, it's big and takes up the entire front of the shopping cart (it's a good thing I don't take the kids with me too often!), but I can easily see if I have a coupon to match up with an unexpected sale item.

I have realized that Albertson's has a lot of really good sales, in fact, right now they have an incredible cereal sale going on. Read about it here and here . The Albertson's by our house closed about a year ago, and I'm really missing it now. It's a good thing there is another Albertson's just 10 minutes from our house. I went last night and bought 10 boxes of cereal, (just remember to buy them in groups of 6 at a time) I plan to buy more before the sale is over.

I'm so proud of you. This feels so overwhelming to me. I tried it once and found that I never bought the stuff the coupons were for. I hate shopping right now. But yay for you.
Ditto the overwhelming feelings. I'd love to learn from you. We need to have a Sisters Night sleepover at Grandma's where you can teach us all about couponing... and SFG... and cooking yummy food from your Food Storage... and on and on and on! You're just too good at everything Deb!
