4th of July

The 4th of July is my favorite holiday, next to Christmas. Mike took Scotlyn and Ivy on the Youth City Council float with him. They had a lot of fun throwing candy. They were at the front of the parade route, and Mason and I were at the end of the route, so the girls were able to watch the rest of the parade with Mason and I.
It was nice to have some one on one time with Mason while we waited for the parade to start. He would find rocks, and bring them to me and we would count them. I think he enjoyed having me all to himself.
After the parade, we went home and rested. The city did not have the all day carnival this year like they have in the past, so Mike ended up being home until 3:30. The Youth Council sold drinks again this year for a fundraiser, so Mike helped with that and stayed until the fireworks started. I took the kids over for a couple of hours after dinner and they played on the inflatable toys. It was a much smaller carnival, but still the kids had fun. After the kids were ready for bed, we watched the fireworks from our window. Having church at 9:00 in the morning makes for an early morning after the 4th. We all slept in until 8:20. Needless to say, we were late for church the next morning, but we sure had a nice 4th of July.

Here is Scotlyn doing a little sunbathing in the afternoon. It made me laugh.
