Toddler Talk Tuesday

Our little Ivy never ceases to have something funny to say. She has been coming to me and saying "Okay, I've got some good news and some bad news" (a phrase she picked up from the movie "Toy Story") and then she proceeds to tell me in her mind what the good and bad news is. (Usually there is just good news or bad news, not both) This morning, the bad news was that she couldn't get her swim suit on because it was turned inside out. That was easily turned into good news.

If you have seen the show "Super Why?" on PBS, then you will understand why Ivy has said the following. She has been using this as an excuse if there is anything that she does not want to do. On Sunday, the girls were sitting at the table, each putting together their own puzzle. Ivy was putting together a puzzle that had 12 pieces with a picture of Jesus on it. She was struggling to put it together and Scotlyn said "Ivy you can do it". Ivy's reply was "No, I can't, it says right here in my story, 'Ivy could not put the Jesus puzzle together'".
Then last night, I asked Ivy to help pick up the blocks on the floor, when again she said "No, I can't, it says right here in my story, 'Ivy cannot help pick up the blocks'".

She also told me not to long ago that she wanted to jump into the TV. Mason loves it and will always point to the TV when Scotlyn leaves for school because he knows he can watch "Sid the Science Kid" and Super Why?" back to back. These are his two favorite shows ever. I really don't feel like the kids watch too much TV, but I guess they pick up on things rather quickly.

I think its so funny when they say things like that, even if its not really funny as a parent :) They are so creative and cute. I love it when they do things like lay out curlers for a slumber party. Too cute!
