Groundhog Day

I feel like this past week has been like the movie "Groundhog Day", every day.

Last Sunday after we got home from Stake Conference, we noticed that Ivy was running a fever, so we immediately gave her ibuprofen, and Mike held her while he put ice packs on her to cool her down, and we are very happy to report that she did not have a seizure! I think that this is the first time in a long time that she has not had a febrile seizure. She is actually on two different medications right now. She started Depakote three weeks ago, and is still on Phenobarbital for at least another week while her body adjusts to the new medication. We think that being on both of the meds might have helped. We feel like a victory has been made here. Yeah!

Here is a picture of her and Scotlyn watching a movie last weekend. This is what we have been doing all week long, which is why I feel like we have been living the same day over and over again for the past week. On Monday, Scotlyn started with a fever. She has had it every day since, even today. We took both of the girls to the doctor two days ago, but the doctor said there was nothing that could be treated. Ivy's fever went away the next day, but Scotlyn's has still been hanging on. Mike took her back to the doctor today, because 6 days of a fever for a 6 year old seemed a little long, and sure enough today she has a double ear infection. She kept telling us that her head was hurting, now we know why. She is now on an antibiotic, so hopefully she will be able to go back to school on Monday. She has been home all week and missed four days of school. After one more week of school and she will be off track for three weeks. She loves school and it is hard for her to miss going, but she has been so miserable. I don't know that I have ever seen her so sick. I know she will start feeling better now.

In the middle of all of this, she also lost her third tooth this past week. This is the first tooth she has lost without there already being another one growing in it's place.

Mike has also been pretty sick this week. Hopefully he will feel better on Monday.
Our little Mason has seemed to make it through all of this alright so far. We are hoping that he pulls though without anything, but we are not out of the woods yet. There is a lot of stuff going around right now. It's just how it is and I'm so grateful for the knowledge of a loving Savior who came to earth and went through all of this so that he would know exactly how we feel when we are going though it ourselves. If there were not experiences like this that made us fall to our knees in prayer, and rely on our Heavenly Father to get us though, there would be no growth in life.
On Tuesday, Mike had the day off because I had same day surgery scheduled. It was not a big deal and the recovery has not been bad at all, except for the day after when the anaesthesia was still wearing off and I felt pretty much out of it all day long. Luckily Scotlyn knows just how to run the DVD player because I pretty much slept on the couch. I don't really remember much. I have not been in very much pain, nothing that Ibuprofen would not take care of. I have not told very many people because I really did not think it would be that big of a deal, which it has not been.
I was hoping that I could get back to the gym this next week, but it looks like I will have to take at least two weeks off. I am so glad I ran 5 miles the day before the surgery. It felt really good, and it will be great to get back to my spin class after next week. Last night, I ran across the street and realized that it was too soon to start again.
I decided I want to run a 10K this year. My goal has always been to run a 5K, but I feel like I could actually run 6 miles, which I never thought was possible, until now. It would take me at least 90 minutes, but I would not do it for time, only to accomplish my goal.

Sorry you guys have been sick. I hope its all gone soon. I hope you recover soon too and that everything is alright with you. I can't believe Mike makes that bread. That's awesome. Rick has been doing more, but its things like trying a new goulash recipe. Not as daring as bread. Anyway, take care. P.S. you should do a post about square foot gardening if its not too overwhelming. I took a class, but I did something wrong. :)
