Crazy Weather
When I looked at the weather yesterday afternoon, it was amazing to me how quickly the weather changed. It was so nice in the afternoon, but had snowed the night before, and the wind had started to kick up.
On Thursday morning we went to SL's piano lessons. I drove over there not thinking much of the wind. As we got out of the car, I had everything ready to run up to the door really fast thinking that we would be able to make it there with no problem. Normally, IL stays with my neighbor during paino lessons, but yesterday my neighbor was unable to watch her, so I had all three children. Nothing prepared me for the wind gusts that we were about to walk into. Combine that with the fact that you have to walk up about a 20 foot incline in cement steps to get to the door. SL made it up rather well, but IL and ML were screaming by the time we made it in the door. It took them a while to calm down and we interrupted the little boy who has his lessons just before SL's. ML looked like a snowman by the time we reached the doorstep. I had tried to cover him up the best I could with the two blankets that I had, but they blew off of his head. The rest of the day, that was all SL could talk about. Everytime I take the kids out into weather like this I think about the Martin and Willie Handcart companies and how hard it must have been for them to carry their children in severe weather and knowing that there was not much they could do for shelter for them. It makes me grateful.
After lessons, I took the kids to McDonald's for a Valentine's treat. There was no way I was going to get out in the weather again! We just went through the drive through and brought our lunch home. I have never been more grateful in my life for a garage that I could drive into and close and leave the weather outside!
