Boonanza!

Saturday night was the annual Boonanza at the Aquatic Center. We have not gone in years because it has always fallen on the same night as our neighborhood Halloween party. This year, they were on different nights so we were able to go. Little did I know that this night would hange our lives forever. We almost did not go because I have not felt well and Mason and Mike were both feeling sick as well, but we ended up going anyway. Thy have all sorts of games for the kids so we did a few of those. When we went into the gym, they had a pet adoption shelter set up. Scotlyn has been wanting a dog for a very long time. In fact, this past summer, she has a pet watching business. She did really well and ended up making over $100 from watching pets in the neighborhood. We have had so many discussions on owning a pet. I have never wanted a pet. I did not grow up with them and had no desire to have one. Mike did grow up with dogs and was not really pushing the issue, but he saw how much Scotlyn wanted a dog and so he would encourage her along the way. Scotlyn has proven herself time and time again that she is responsible and that she will take good care of an animal. So when we came across "Velvet" at the Boonanza, she really wanted to get her. Velvet is a very calm dog. She hardly barks and is very cuddly and sweet. She is 2 years old and is house broken. She is a very cute dog. Mike and I spent a lot of time discussing getting her and Scotlyn decided she wanted to spend her money on her. She drained her bank account and we brought her home. It is going to take me some time to get used to her, but so far, she is a great fit in our family and I do like her. It will be a week of adjustment for all of us. She has really bonded with Scotlyn and of course all of my kids adore her

They also had these dinosaurs. There were people inside them, but they looked pretty real.

Here is Velvet cuddled up in her dog bed.

She likes to sit by Scotlyn while she plays the piano. It is moments like these that I am glad we have her.

The girls took a ride on the boat.

This is Scotlyn right after she officially adopted Velvet.
