The 35 things about me
Wow, I can't believe I am 35. I don't feel 35, but I realize that I was born in 1973, so that makes me 35. Just for fun, I thought I would list the 35 things about me. Now, none of you will ever forget how old I am, and if I'm ever playing the game "two truths and a lie" with any of you, I will for sure lose. Please be aware that there is no chronological order to this at all.
1. I was born & raised in Ogden.
2. I grew up in the same house all my life, and my parents still live there.
3. I used to be painfully shy.
4. I won the handwriting award all but one year in Elementary school. (I wonder if they still do that?)
5. When I was in the 7th grade, my friend and I got in trouble by the principle because we would save our rolls from lunch and throw them in the hall (what were we thinking?) From that point on, I would not wear the same jacket to school, because I didn't want the principle to recognize me. (Like there weren't 500 kids in the school, and he would remember me out of all of those who were in trouble that day? Yes, it's a very self centered stage of life.)
6. Max Roth from channel 13 news went to my high school.
7. I was arrested the night before I graduated from Ricks College for trespassing (my roommate had a great idea about climbing the roof of the dance club). The cops were waiting for us when we were climbing down the ladder, yes, I was a follower back then.
Here is a picture below, only in Rexburg would you be able to have the cop take a picture, while the other cop was in the picture.

8. During my 2 years at Ricks College, I never once had a roommate get married.
9. I worked during college and was able to pay for my tuition each semester, except for a couple of semesters where I qualified for a pell grant. (I wonder if that would be possible today, with the cost of tuition.)
10. I made all of my own clothes for school from the 9th to 12th grades.
11. I was hit by a punk kid when I was walking down the street in a not so good part of town on my mission. He just whacked me on the arm, and it really didn't hurt, (the kid was probably 12) but I did cry afterwards.
12. I have an older sister and a younger brother, so I can relate to Ivy a little better (being the middle child)
13. My brother is 6 1/2 years younger than me, so when he was born, my sister and I had a real live "doll" to take care of, we thought he was the greatest thing ever (we still do, Darin, your awesome).
14. I never flew on an airplane until I went on my mission. Since then, I have been to Scotland, Washington D.C., Santa Fe N.M., Las Vegas, and New York.
15. My favorite British candy is the Boost bar (I am salivating right now just thinking about it!)
16. I have never been to Disneyland.
17. I would love to travel someday with my husband.
18. I want to go on another mission someday.
19. Mike and I met on the Internet back when the Internet was new and meeting on it and marrying someone was taboo.
20. We had Scotlyn's name picked out before we knew we were having a girl. Mike plays the bagpipes, and I served my mission in Scotland, so we wanted to name our first child after that.
21. Ivy's name came from seeing it on the credits from the movie Rigoletto.
22. Mason was our hardest child to name. We liked the name when were were expecting Ivy, and didn't know whether she would be a boy or a girl, but when we knew we were having a boy with Mason, we decided to look at other boy names. We could not agree on anything, but Mason, and we didn't decide on that name until after he was born. I don't know what we will do if we ever have another boy.
23. We lived in the Avenues for 4 years after we were married.
24. Elder Holland and several of the seventy were in our ward. What an amazing ward we lived in. We have so many friends there that we miss.
25. I love fish and chips, the real British kind.
26. One day, just before Thanksgiving 2002, a friend and I were out for a walk in downtown Salt Lake. We passed by President Faust, and he stopped and talked to us, and admired our babies which were only a few weeks old at the time. (We miss living so close to downtown, and have great memories from that place!)
27. Mike's mom and dad live in the same place we lived in the Avenues. They have since turned the apartments into condos, and when there were looking for a place to live in Salt Lake, ours was available. They have completely gutted and redone the inside, so it looks different than when we lived there.
28. Mike grew a ginormous pumpkin when we lived in the Avenues. We often would hear people outside admiring the pumpkin. We got the seed from a neighbor who's family has a pumpkin growing contest every year. One day when Mike was one his way to school, a first grade had walked over from the Elementary school and was stopped in front of our apartment. The teacher was talking to the kids about pumpkins that day and decided to take them on a field trip. This is Mike and I with my nephew.

29. When I went to Ricks just after High School, the only thing I would eat for the first month was peanut butter. For my birthday that year, we met at my aunts house in Idaho Falls, and they threw me a peanut butter party. Everything I got had something to do with peanut butter. It was one of the best birthdays I have ever had, and boy, I sure did not need to buy peanut butter for a long time after that! This is a picture of me at my party with my brother and grandparents, who have since passed on (my grandparents, that is.)

30. I once ate an entire pizza after going to my cross country skiing class at Ricks. I had a roommate who was in the class with me, and we decided to challenge eachother to an eating contest. I don't know how I ever did that! I need to go cross country skiing again, that was a lot of fun.

31. My first year at Ricks, my roommates and I dressed up like potatoes and went trick or treating. That was another one of those "what were we thinking" moments. Don't we look like we are 12?

32. Every year for New Year's Eve, Mike makes Japanese food. He served his mission in Japan, and he is a very good cook. He makes curry, yakisoba, and gyoza. I look forward to it every year.
33. I just started doing a spin class 3 times a week. I love it - thanks to Kim who inspired me.
34. I was out of work for three months just after we were married. The week before our money was going to run out, I was led to a job at Beehive Clothing in Salt Lake as a secretary. I worked there for 3 1/2 years, until Scotlyn was born.
35. I never cared about BYU football until I married Mike (Go Cougars!)
