General Conference and Random Thoughts
I love conference weekend. It's such a nice, relaxing, inspiring weekend. I always feel so uplifted, along with a desire to do better in my every day life. This past weekend was no exception. With the economy being in such turmoil lately, as I listened to the talks, I thought to myself, "If only the leaders of our government could be like these men and women, only wanting to do God's will, life would be different right now". But, as we know from the scriptures, this is how the world is suppose to be right now . It's very frustrating to watch the news and realize that this all stems from dishonest, greedy people. The root of all evil is pride. It makes me want to never let pride enter my heart (which I realize is not possible), but to at least be fully aware of it when it does, and immediately repent, and change my heart.
Here are some photos from this past week. This is Scotlyn on her birthday with the hat she was give by her teacher. As soon as Scotlyn got home from school, Ivy immediately claimed the hat as hers, and wore it the rest of the day as her "princess crown". Scotlyn was nice enough to let her do so, but I did manage to get one picture of her in the hat.
Ivy has such a hard time going to sleep some nights, and has to find some way to entertain herself. We have several photos of her with underwear on her head, but here is another one for the collection. Last night before she went to bed, she went right up to her dad, pointed her finger at him, and said, very sternly "Dad, you can't go to work tomorrow, you have to stay home so you can watch the cooking shows with me". It broke Mike's heart to know he couldn't stay home with her, which he would love to do. This morning when she woke up, she asked where her dad was, when I said he was at work, she said "but he was suppose to stay home with me".
On Sunday night after conference, we went to visit Mike's parents who live in downtown Salt Lake. We took a walk to Temple Square. It was such a nice night. Here are some photos. This is Scotlyn showing us that there is a duck in the pond.
This is Ivy walking with her Grandpa. I love how she carried her purse with her.
Mike turned Mason loose when we got there. He loved it, but it panicked me because of all of the water fountains. I could just picture him taking a nose dive over the side.
I'm glad Mason was still for 2 seconds for this photo.
Mason was trying to get down so he could run some more.
The next few pictures are with just the girls because Mason would not sit still for any more photos.
We ran into some old friends that we knew when we lived in Salt Lake. It was fun to see them. This little boy was born on Mike's birthday, she same year Scotlyn was born. His mom and I used to go walking downtown when they were little. They didn't want to stand by each other to take this picture. Some things are just different when you are 6.
