PBS Kids Super Reader Party!

Last weekend, we took the kids to the PBS Super Reader Party at the Fairgrounds in Salt Lake. We almost did not go because it was snowing so bad Saturday morning, but the kids were really excited about it, and we did not want to disappoint them. So we decided to brave the weather and go. Boy, are we glad we did! By the time we reached Bountiful, the snow had pretty much cleared up and was just light rain between there and Salt Lake. So, the drive really was not too bad. The kids had a blast!

Just a little background on this party. Every November, PBS has a reading marathon. You keep track on how long your kids read for a certain period of time. The library has a reading log, or it is also posted on the the PBS Kids website. When the reading marathon is over, you do to the PBS kids website, and log your kids reading time. You can then print out a certificate and a invitation to this party that they have every January. This is the first year we have been to this party. It was amazing. They had several booths for the kids to make crafts and art projects. When we got there, we checked in and they gave the kids a bag to put all of their "goodies" in. And the cool thing was, it was all free as long as your child was registered for the party. They even let every child choose a free book (they had several tables full of books!) and had free snacks (chips, string cheese, and juice). Here are some pictures from our fun day!

These are dinosaur claws, just like "Buddy" has on the show "Dinosaur Train".

Mason was really exciting about seeing his favorite characters there. Here is Buddy.

And Martha, from the show "Martha Speaks". Sid the Science Kid and the Duck from "Word World" were also there.

I stayed for an hour and a half, and still did not get to every table. This is something we will be going to every year from now on, I'm sure!

Yeah! I think I'm finally caught up on my blog, at least for today, now if I can just keep it caught up.
I wanted to mention that Ivy and Mason have been seizure free for a year! It's a milestone for our family. Ivy's last seizure was January 2009 and Mason's was August 2008. They have both had fevers during this period of time, so we feel hope that it may be behind us now. Ivy is still on meds for another year, then if he does not have a seizure this year, we may be able to take her off the medication.

I love when you blog a bunch at once - it gives me something to read while I'm nursing the baby. :-) Hurray for a year free of seizures! I'm so happy for you and for them!
Oh how FUN! I have never heard of this before. The girls would go nuts over something like that! We were going to a Ready To Learn class just down the street from us on the 1st Wednesday of every month. It was put on by KBYU and the lady was awesome! The kids got a free book every time they went. They just canceled the class because they didn't get enough funding for it this year. Very disappointing.

You and Mike are such good parents to make sure your kids can take advantage of these types of activities.
