Kool-aid Play-dough
About 18 months ago, my sister in law posted a recipe on her blog for kool-aid play-dough. I went right out and bought the kool-aid. It sat in my pantry until last week, when Scotlyn was off track and was helping me deep clean the pantry.
We had a mouse in our house last week, Mike finally trapped the darn thing Monday morning - I was so happy. I've have been deep cleaning my house from top to bottom. I feels like we just moved in again, it's awesome! I have just a few more things to clean before I'm finished. In the spring, we will finally get our carpets cleaned (they need it really bad!), and I will feel like it's finished.
There is nothing like a little early spring cleaning to cheer me up until the real spring arrives, I guess that is one positive things that can come from having a mouse in your house. I don't think I have been so stressed out since Mason and Ivy were going through their febrile seizures. I'm just glad it's gone, and I'm really glad it was last week and not this week because I'm doing my very first mini-triathlon tomorrow, and it would not have been a good thing to have happen this week. Mike and the kids are really glad it is gone too because I hate to admit this, but I was not the most pleasant person to be around last week. I will never look at any book that has a friendly little mouse in it, or movies like "Stuart Little" in the same light again. (We actually had checked out the movie "Stuart Little" from the library three days before we noticed our unwelcome visitor).
So, on to my post, I have cleaned out the pantry several times since I bought the kool-aid, but when Scotlyn found it this time, it reminded me of the reason I bought it in the first place. The kids loved helping me make the playdough, and even had a more fun playing with it for three hours. Mason kept trying to eat it. Even though it smelled really good, it was not so tasty!

Cookie anyone?

1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1 package kool-aid (any flavor)
1 Tablespoon cream of tartar
3 Tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup boiling water
Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Run a wire whisk through the dry ingredients to eliminate any flour clumps there might be. Add the oil and the boiling water to the dry ingredients and stir until it is all combined. Remove from the bowl and knead the dough on the counter top until it is cool. Store in an airtight container.
