Scotlyn's Twinkle Concert

Scotlyn has been taking piano lessons in the Suzuki program for the past 4 years. I really cannot believe we started her at 3 1/2! I don't think we will be doing that with any of our other kids. In fact, Ivy will start lessons this summer for the first time.

Scotlyn passed off Book 1 earlier this year. At that point in the Suzuki program, they have what is called a "Twinkle Concert" where she played all of her twinkles, plus about 8 other songs in Book 1. After putting off her concert several times for various reasons, we finally had it earlier this month. My brother and his wife, and both of her Grandma's also came. She did wonderful, we are so proud of her!


Here she is with her piano teacher. Her teacher gave her a trophy. Scotlyn kept saying all night "This is my very first trophy"!

These photos were taken about a month ago. The snow is now all gone, Yeah! I tried to shovel a path through the snow so the kids could get to the playset to play. When Mason saw what I was doing, he immediatley took over shoveling. He shoveled for at least an hour, piling snow into the grey bucket. If the girls even tried to have a turn, he let them know it was his shovel. I'm sure he felt like he was a backhoe, moving dirt. That is his dream job.

Scotlyn's Birthday Party

Scotlyn's birthday is this coming Thursday, but because her birthday always falls around General Conference time, we try to have her party the week before conference. She has been counting down the days until her party all week. It was a lot of fun, and was so nice to have her party outside this year. Every year on her birthday, the weather has been cold, until this year. This is a picture of her a couple of days ago, when she decided she was going to build a hot air balloon and fly to Salt Lake. She packed a change of clothes in her backpack and took food with her in the box. She also had a few toys with her, but when she was ready to fly, she realized that there was not room for her to sit in the box. She kept saying to me, "Mom, this is really going to work. I'm going to Salt Lake, I'll be back later". It was too cute. She never did make it to Salt Lake, but she didn't seem too disappointed that she didn't fly. I love how at this age, they lo...
